“The Visitor” is the first in a series of informal projects by the Fine Art MFA students at Kingston School of Art, London following the easing of lockdown and reoccupation of The Swan Studios. These projects became increasingly public over the time and months as the spaces became more accessible, and consequently culminated in a graduation exhibition at the beginning of September 2021. “The Visitor” is both exhibition and an online project and also neither.
In acknowledging the uncertainty of our current interregnum, the project awakens the spectres that have haunted the studios during two successive lockdowns. Each participating artist has presented a work for one day in the shared part of The Swan Studios and documented their work with a video or still photographs, which were then uploaded to the project’s website and the MFA’s Instagram account.
